Today Luke had his 1st year check up. We have decided to go back to his original doctor as the new doctor and her office just didn't do it for us even though it was only 3 blocks from our house and minutes from Luke's day care. We decided the 4 hours it takes to go see his doctor is worth it.
Four hours you ask? Let me break it down for you...Today I had to leave work at 2p to go get Luke for his 4p appointment. I had to drive to Burbank which takes about 45 mins to get to day care, 15 mins to get him checked out, 40 mins to get to doctor's office, then spend the prerequisite 15 min wait for the appointment and then the 45 min appointment after which we drive back another 45 mins to get home. SO in a nutshell I left work at 2p got home at 6p. Crazy we know but this doctor is so worth it and there are times where Curtis can help with meeting me in the middle and such so it doesn't have to be one parent losing so much time at work and being on the road - how we are going to do this with TBD #2 IS BEYOND ME!!!
Anyways, back to the appointment. Luke weighed in at 22.3 lbs, (46%), 29.8 inches (57%) and his head came in at 19 inches (94%). He is a healthy kid and he got his chickenpox, MMR and Hep A shots which he did not like one bit, can't blame him I scream and cry too when needles are poked into me.
In other news, Luke took a few steps between us last night that we tried to get on video (didn't work out so well). So we decided to do some more practice tonight and he did 3 steps to Curtis and then 3 steps to me quite a few times. He is starting to take steps between our ottomans and couch as well. So it is just days now before he is running all over the place.
With the help of Grammie Leslie we are sending fliers to a bunch of rescue and animal lovers all over to assist with finding our precious Brutus a home. We are just too nervous that once Luke begins to walk Brutus will not be able to adjust - per his vet Brutus is scared of children hence his scary behavior around children. The trainers & behaviorists we have looked at are really expensive and the time commitment is too much unfortunately. If we weren't parents we would definitely have the time but with Luke and TBD #2 on the way it is just something that isn't in the cards for us. We have discussed this long and hard and it is for the best for Brutus to find a new home that will love him as much as we do and to let him live without the limitations we have come to put upon him.
