Home away from home for this week only!

So we had to leave our apartment for a week and it isn't for a vacation, that's for sure.
For 6 weeks, going on 7 now, we have had to deal with our air conditioner leaking in our apartment. There were a lot of different theories out there as to why the air conditioner was leaking which took the full 6 weeks to figure out but in those 6 weeks we ended up with a swampy hall carpet that moved into hall closets and our bedroom.
Curtis and I for at least the last week have been feeling like we were getting sick but chalked it up to allergies. Well low and behold the nasty swamp that was in the hall had indeed seeped into our bedroom walls and was the source of our feeling of overall crappiness.
Once that got into our heads and I spoke with my wonderful Katie-did, we realized that even with the carpets pulled up and the hall bathed in bleach two times over that we needed to get the hell out of dodge. The main reason being LUKE!!!!
He has had some congestion the last few weeks that we thought a humidifier would help with (didn't) and he has started coughing quite a bit. Well that immediately sent us into a concerned tizzy and we said we need to get out NOW! We can't wait until they choose to remove the wet and possibly moldy/mildewy portions of the walls. His respiratory system is way too important for that. He isn't quite 6 months old and I'm pretty sure his lungs are still developing. It was time to get out!!!!
So we got the dogs in a kennel and headed to Burbank. We are in the crappiest hotel ever! We went with an Extended Stay place so we could easily have access to a small kitchen for sterilizing and cleaning bottles and such for Luke as well as keep costs down by being able to prepare our own meals. We believe our landlord will reimburse us for these costs as the air conditioner leak was not our fault and we were patient enough to wait 6 weeks to get everything fixed. But as I said it is now the beginning of the 7th week and we still have to have walls removed and new carpet replaced.
Anyways, our hotel has no amenities well it does have on site laundry that is good I guess but no continental breakfast or pool. I know we are not on vacation but wow we kind of feel for $150/night in Burbank we should at least have access to a swimming pool or maybe a box of free cereal in the morning.
Curtis is now sick with a cold and we are not sure if Luke is getting sick as well as he was quite cranky throughout the night. Perhaps it was due to not being at home and the strangeness of his surroundings or perhaps it is due to his sinus' draining from not being in a mold/mildew and bleached filled apartment. Either way it was one of the toughest nights I have been through in awhile.
Stay tuned...updates to come as the story continues to develop!!!
Happy Sunday all!
